Mad Skills – Fun Size

Old McDonald Had A What?

We hadn’t lived here long when SAG discovered an interesting farm tucked off a fabulous, winding gravel road.  And on that farm they have a zebra and a one-humped camel who share a pasture.  In the neighboring pasture, they, or course, have a two-humped camel.

Mad Skills

This past weekend’s warm weather with plenty of snow on the ground made for a beautiful walk in the woods, and PJ’s second opportunity to practice a super important skill – using Mother Nature’s Potty.  The first time she did this she had on overalls, a winter coat and there was almost two-feet of snow on the ground.  I think everyone can agree that is a high-degree of difficulty.  So, this weekend’s attempt, complete with a branch to sit on, was a pretty simple task.  Still, we all celebrated.

Whoever You Are – You Sure Remind Me Of…

Whoever You Are by Mem Fox, illustrated by Leslie Staub, is a beautiful multi-cultural childrens’ book.  It is so special even penny-pinchers like me want to own it and not just borrow it from the library, again and again and again.  The message of universal similarities among all people is written in terms kids can relate to and is illustrated with beautiful, unique, but still accessible art.

This character

appears on the cover and a few of the interior pages.  Additionally, a tiny version of him flying while carrying four very different looking children can be found on every page, a trick found in many books that never fails to engage both of my kids.

And I can’t believe it is only me, so I am just going to put it out there, there is something about “flying guy” that is really reminiscent of  Little Richard.

Nope… sorry. I don’t see it.
But as an aside, Tutti Fruitti is one of our current favorite songs. However, Little Richard is a little scary so I’m still debating whether I should show P. a video of it.

I totally think he looks like LR. I don’t know what is up with his hat though.
